15 April World Art Day
Each year, on 15 April, World Art Day celebrations help us to encourage greater awareness of the diversity of artistic expressions, highlight the importance of art and motivate students of all ages to participate in artistic activities.
But how can you encourage your English learners to work independently or in groups to explore their creative side, learn more about interesting art movements and create their own piece of art? Hmm… Let’s find out!

Art Movements
Impressionism, Minimalism, Pop art, Surrealism, Expressionism… Ask your students to work in pairs or groups to find information about an art movement that still influences artists today. Can they prepare an interesting presentation and deliver it in front of the class?
tip 🎨 An activity that focuses on collaboration and communication helps your young students to strengthen bonds with classmates and learn how to think critically. In addition, older learners can focus on the skills they need in order to effectively structure and present their ideas in English. And if your students are about to sit a speaking exam, that’s a great opportunity to build confidence and pay attention to the importance of body language and other paralinguistic features!
