9 Podcasts to Improve Your English

Podcasts have been around for a while now and many people listen to podcasts on their way to work, when travelling or at home. Podcasts are usually part of a series and there are so many different podcasts in many different niches that almost anyone will find a podcast suited to them and  their interests. There are also many podcasts available specifically for English language learners and they're a great way to improve your English listening skills in your spare time. Below are some of our favourite podcasts for improving your English.

The Business Podcasts - These podcasts from Macmillan are for pre-intermediate level and above. They focus on working life in the UK and come with a worksheet and a tapescript to help learners improve their business English skills.

Luke's English Podcast - This is an award-winning podcast with over 400 episodes to learn British English.

Learning English - A daily 30-minute program with news events reported using slower speech aimed at English learners.

BBC World Service: The English We Speak - A  weekly 3-minute podcast introducing a common phrase or expression used in British English.

Story Time - This is a great podcast for kids to listen to at bedtime but can also be used by adults who are just beginning to learn English.

BBC 6-Minute Grammar - A weekly 6-minute podcast focused on learning some new grammar.

Splendid Speaking - This is a podcast suitable for advanced English learners who want to take their communication skills to the next level.  Each podcast features a recording of non-native speakers of English carrying out short tasks individually or in pairs. Each recording contains feedback on the speaker's performance.
